Pretty in Print: Baby Blue & Polka Dots
When the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out of St. Mary’s Hospital on July 23 in a bespoke Jenny Packham dress, the second though that came to mind was how absolutely stunning she looked - especially for a woman who had just given birth (the first being how adorable the royal baby, soon-to-be-named Prince George of Cambridge, looked all swaddled up). Aside from the natural glow the duchess had, she picked the perfect outfit to show off her new baby boy. A simple, baby blue dress with cute little polka dots, the Jenny Packham number is classically chic - especially since it’s a nod to the dress worn by Diana, Princess of Wales when she first showed Prince William to the world. Paired with her favorite Pied a Terre espadrille wedges, Kate effortlessly wowed everyone with her style.
The print on the bespoke dress is simplistic and clean, and it’s no surprise that the Kate effect is already in full force. I have always been a fan of polka dots and I’m overjoyed that the availability and popularity of the white and denim-like blue print has surged after the Duchess was seen in it. It’s a lively print that can be worn in all kinds of casual to celebratory occasions and flexible enough to transition between all four seasons. Everyone can look like a princess while wearing this print, whether you go for a dress like the Duchess of Cambridge or settle for a small spotted accessory.
